The San Carlos Apache Head Start Program will be a model for Indian Head Start Programs across the nation, which is competent, accountable, determined and creative while providing comprehensive, fully compliant full day services for children 0-5 years of age and their families.Mission Statement

- Our basic premise is that all children share certain needs and those children of low income families, in particular can benefit from a comprehensive development program.
- Following this assumption we believe that a child can benefit most from a program that will foster development and remedy problems with a broad range services.
- The parents, who are viewed as the major influences in a child’s development, must be direct participants in the program along with involvement of the Tribal Council, community and the child’s entire family.

- To implement shared decision making procedures between the Tribal Council, Policy Council and Administration Staff.

The San Carlos Head Start Program is RECRUITING and accepting applications for the 3 & 4 year old and children with special needs/disabilities for the upcoming 2007-2008 school year. Child enrolling MUST be 3 years old before September 1, 2007. Enrollment packets can be picked up at the Main Head Start Administration Office. Only completed applications will be considered.The following documents listed below are needed to complete your child’s enrollment packet: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Tribal Census (CIB), Current Income Verification, AHCCCS Card/Kids Care/Private Insurance or AHCCCS Denial Letter, Current Immunizations, Current Physical Exam.
